We were driving to Portland and came across this fine place on a rain filled day on a stop for gas and food in Baker City. Nicoise Salad, Soup of the day, Hot tea, and a sandwich for us. It was all very well made and freshly prepared. What a great hidden gem in a tiny little town.\ Local, Travelers, Wanderers, Foodie, and just ordinary hungry folks, if you find yourself near Lone Pine Café, stop and have a bite.

If you are passing through Baker City make sure to plan breakfast or lunch around The Lone Pine Café. Soooo good. We had the pork carnitas. The beef is local grass-fed. The atmosphere is more Portland than Baker. Who knew? We will definitely be back.

Stopped overnight on a road trip in Baker City and found this excellent spot. The pulled pork Benedict over zucchini cakes and topped with bbq hollandaise (more like hollandaise than bbq) was the best eggs Benedict I've had. Great service, nice interior, and outdoor seating. The coffee could have been stronger, but it was still good. If you're in Baker City, do yourself and your companions a favor and skip the processed, microwaved national chains for the local, homemade goodness of the Lone Pine.

If you're on the road and headed north on I-84 from Idaho, Baker City is basically the first place with food you'll come to once you cross into Oregon. And of all the options, you should visit this little cafe. I had the Tillamook burger with the house salad as a side. It was the best burger I've ever had. Ever. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Aside from the burger: good service, nice (quirky) interior, and they have Mexican coke on the menu, too.

If one was unaware of his or her presence in rural Oregon and was asked to determine it by the eatery one was in, Lone Pine Cafe would very easily lead one to believe they were in Portland or San Diego. Fresh, homemade, healthy dishes served up in an aesthetically pleasing manner make up the entire menu of Lone Pine Cafe. The atmosphere is laid back, with the decor consisting of soft, warm colors. The service was friendly and inviting, with only the most authentic tones. I saw several vegetarian options on the menu, and was so happy that I chose the veggie burger as my entree. It was a delicious homemade patty made of quinoa, black beans, carrots, and kale among some other goodies, and it is THE best veggie burger I have ever had at a restaurant. (I like my recipe that I prepare at home a little better, but I may be biased)! Rounding out the meal, I enjoyed a salted chocolate chip cookie. "YUM" is all I have to say! What a hidden treasure in the small town of Baker City. I will DEFINITELY be back the next time I find myself nearby.

I know I'm getting a reputation for writing five star reviews, so again, I'm not a foodie. However, I found this place through Yelp and I have to say that the sandwich I had here, I think they called it the Golden Beet sandwich was one of the best most creative sandwiches I've had in my life. I like sandwiches and I try to go with vegan or vegetarian when it seems good and this was definitely good in that category. I think it was vegan and the beets were so tender and sweet with everything else that was in it, it was fabulous. The prices are very low. The service was perfectly adequate, and that was the style of the place so don't expect cloth napkins and eager wait people. This place was another one of those I want to come back here as soon as I can and will make a special stop to do so places for me.

Just moved to the Baker area from a hip Northeastern small city, and was very glad to find the Lone Pine. Made my first trip this week when they re-opened from their winter vacation, and had a decent meal, but did find the service lackluster and my chosen menu item perplexing. I ordered the 'Bahn Mi' because I love the Vietnamese sandwich, but when it arrived it was a salad. I said, "um, I ordered the Banh mi?' and the server replied with "yeah, it's a salad. Sometimes people order it as a sandwich. It's weird because 'banh mi' actually means 'bread.'" Yeah. Weird. The salad was very good but maybe the menu should call it a 'bahn mi salad' to cut down on the disappointment for those of us craving carbs and authenticity. I'm really looking forward to trying some of the breakfast options, and from now on I'll be sure to read the fine print.

The food here was great, mid-priced. Service prompt and friendly. (We were the only ones there though; we drove by on a Sunday.) Very charming little cafe; they have a record player that they use to play the background music, as well as a large pile of records to choose from. Very nice little place.

While visiting a friend in Baker she suggested we lunch at the hip new restaurant located downtown, The Lone Pine. The place was packed when we arrived around 1ish, which I took as a good sign. After a 5 minute wait we nabbed a table from some guests that were leaving. I'm not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves (I don't recall seeing a sign), but we did, and that could explain why the waitress didn't come to our table until after I grew frustrated with the wait and grabbed our menus from the counter myself. I was disappointed to learn they were out of the only IPA they serve so I settled on a pale ale. I had a hard time deciding on my lunch order and when I asked the waitress what her favorite is her response was "I don't like to try new things"...not very helpful. Since fish tacos were not on the menu, and the sandwich selection was minimal (2 options), I ordered the fish and chips which were delicious. The Tillamook burger my friend ordered was undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen. It would've been helpful if the waitress asked my friend how she liked her burger cooked. In addition, as she was finishing her fries the waitress grabbed the plate and asked if she was finished...my friend responded "I guess" and the plate was whisked away. The restaurant is relatively new so perhaps it'll mature over time. Or perhaps my expectations of a restaurant are too high for a small town like Baker. Either way, I don't know if I'll be returning. Suggestions: larger beer selection (afterall, we are in the Pacific NW), add fish tacos, more sandwich options, and a greater vegetarian selection to the menu, and provide training for the servers.

Stopped in Baker City last month on a Friday around 11am on our way to Seattle and decided to have an early lunch due to all of the great reviews on both yelp and trip advisor. We sat outside for about 10 minutes and the waitress showed up with water and menus. Waited 10 more minutes for the waitress to take our order. We decided to leave since we still had a long way to go and figured their service was going to be slow (as it is in most small towns). We came through town again last Saturday and decided to give this place another try since their menu looked awesome (we only had another 2hour drive, so we figured we could wait if needed). We were pleasantly surprised when the waitress showed up with water and menus as soon as we sat down and the place was busy compared to the last time we stopped by. I ordered the Rueben sandwich which had corned beef that they made themselves. The beef was not the usual pink, and looked more like a roast beef. Whatever the color, the flavor was wonderful and not overly salty. Their sauerkraut was also delicious and not overly sour. The fries were crispy and the rye bread was toasted perfectly. My husband ordered the black & blue burger on a brioche which was to die for! The burger patty was juicy and the flavors just melt in your mouth. If you are ever in this beautiful city, you must stop by the Lone Pine Café - you won't be disappointed by their varied, delicious menu!

This is a great place which evidently has new ownership as of a few months ago. We went there for our second visit recently, & had a really tasty breakfast. First, we ordered their French Toast. It is on homemade bread, very dense & rich, chopped nuts & salted caramel sauce. Not too sweet but just sweet enough. Yum! We split that and their Green Eggs. The eggs are mixed with herbs & cheese, & accompanied by slices of their rich homemade bread, toasted and potatoes. The potatoes are Yukon Gold, lightly boiled, then deep fried, then grilled. Lightly dusted with coarse salt. Good coffee & OJ too. Service was great, prompt & welcoming. We will be back next time we are in Baker City!

The Lone Pine Cafe must surely serve Baker's most delicious food. Over a 4-day stay in Baker, we tried the following, all were excellent: The Simple (homemade german potato rye bread w/ avocado schmear and medium-cooked egg); Banh-Mi Salad, BELT breakfast sandwich. Great coffee and juices, best breakfast potatoes ever. Friendly service. Baker needs more people who will enjoy this lovely place. A historic valley, great place to visit, snowshoe and ski.

I had the veggie burger because it was the only vegetarian option. Great flavor, but I suspected it was undercooked, especially when my friend's burger was raw in the middle. The fries were fine. Our service was not good. It took the waitress a long time to get to our table, and after our food was delivered, we didn't see her again. She also had no idea about any of the menu items because she hadn't tried any of them. I was excited to see Mexican Coke on the menu but when I ordered it, the waitress said "Sorry, um, we only have bottled Coke." Weird. I visit Baker a few times a year but won't go out of my way to eat here again.

We were just passing thru and syumbt into this place. This places serves fresh cooked food and they have grass fed beef burgers. All the wait staff is very attentive and friendly, and the place has a vet homey feel. Even have old 33 1/3 albums with a turntable for music. Highly recommended!

Driving from Boise going west on I84 can be a long boring ride-with few options for food along the way. But Lone Pine Cafe is a MUST STOP! Quick route right off the highway to beautiful downtown Baker City, Lone Pine has a great local vibe and great food to go along. Trying to decide to eat was the hardest decision so my boyfriend and I got different items so we can try a lot of different items. The Turkey sandwich did not disappoint with real carved turkey meat and plenty of avocado to go around.

After pulling off the road and my husband saying let's stop at subway I suggested we just drove around a bit and see what other options presented themselves to us. We drove by and saw a outside patio full of people ! That's always a good sign for me so we turned around having no idea what kind of place it was as we couldn't see a sign. Walking up I looked at people's plates and it looked fresh and good! To our surprise it was organic salads and naturally grass fed angus beef! Just the way we like to purchase our food but not always available when we eat out! This place had awesome service and the burgers melted in my mouth! The salad was amazing as well!! My husband even dumped an entire glass of ice tea on me and the staff was prompt to help clean up the mess?

I've lived in Baker City for 3 months now, and have tried most of the dining options in my new community. Lone Pine has the very best food in town. They take everything just a little step up - like fresh herbs in scrambled eggs. And they make something as simple as a side salad absolutely fabulous, with micro greens, vinaigrette, nutritional yeast and pumpkin seeds. They have outdoor seating and fast, friendly service. I absolutely LOVE this place.

The food is exceptional and the ambience is charming. We stumbled upon this place and it was such a delightful surprise. The brunch was amazing. We had patatas bravas (perfect lemony aoli) and the BELT (breakfast BLT) with the most perfectly toasted and squishy homemade bread, smoky bacon, fresh tomatoes, and crispy salty potatoes on the side. The whiskey bread was moist and sweet and a hearty slice. Excellent coffee. Great margaritas. Nice selection of beer. This place would be a huge hit even in Portland.

Awesome modern Western decor, friendly and efficient service, and delicious and reasonably priced food! We ha the biscuits and gravy and the Simple. There is not a large sign out front with the name on it, so you need to look close to find it :)

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way through Baker City and what a treat! We ordered a turkey sandwich on sourdough and side salads. Everything had so much flavor! The turkey was roasted in house and they get there greens local from Cove Farm! The service was excellent. Its really hard to eat on the road but this place was affordable quick and delicious!!

Such a gem of a place! I came for breakfast while in town for business and the food was fantastic - I had The Simple along with coffee while my colleague got the cinnamon roll (freshly baked!) and coffee. Service was great and the coffee was promptly (and frequently) refilled. The ambiance and aesthetics were nice - simple, but charming. I only wish I could eat here every week instead of just when I happen to be in Baker City.

By far the best breakfast and lunch in Baker City! I've had the huevos rancheros, pasole, soups, salads, and more. All have been excellent. They serve EXTRACTO coffee from Portland--one of my favorites. Go a little early or a little late as lunch hour is often jammed.

Fantastic! Our waitress was friendly and efficient. My husband ordered the orange juice and we heard her juicing the oranges! It was the best OJ ever! We just happened by this restaurant after spending a night in Baker City, and we were treated to one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. The ambience with vinyl playing on a turntable in a 100 year old building is great, and the food is outstanding with fresh local ingredients. Don't miss the cinnamon rolls made from scratch, or the french toast made on freshly-baked bread. This has to be the best breakfast in Baker City, or in all of Eastern Oregon for that matter.

I have had two meals here now and both times it was excellent. The home made Reuben is delicious and so are the Huevos Rancheros. The bread is baked every day, and yes they have cinnamon rolls. This is a must if traveling through Baker.

This is rare for me to give a five star but this place is great! They play Lps and will let you pick an album if you ask. I ate here while traveling through with three friends on my way to Idaho. The food was a great value and very tasty. Two of us had the blu cheese burger one with a salad and one with fries. It was very delicious. One had the breakfast and it was very tasty. And another person had the regular cheese burger. Everyone was well pleased.

Quaint, little café on baker city's main street. Very hipster decor complete with an actual record player. The waitstaff was excellent and very attentive. I decided on the French Toast and was not disappointed. Salted Carmel drizzle over homemade bread. I can honestly say that it was the best french toast that I've ever had. After a little coaxing, I ordered a cinnamon roll to go. The thing was as big as a softball and could've been a meal in itself. Will be back if I'm ever in Baker City again.

I've stopped here before to enjoy a good meal. This morning I decided to again stop for breakfast. One of the specials, Poblano Hash sounded interesting. It was a big disappointment after sipping their great coffee to figure out that the Hash had chilies, some cheese, and potatoes with no meat. The waitress expressed her agreement that the dish should be listed as vegetarian as most folks expect meat in hash. Instead, all I was provided with was an expensive, high carbohydrate meal.

A sweet escape in Baker! Amazing soul food! I have so many great things to say about this restaurant! The mimosas were fresh squeezed. The ingredients are fresh and delicious, down to the brilliant colored yolks of the farm raised eggs. If you are even close to this restaurant be sure to stop in! Not to mention some of the best prices in town (on top of being the best food!)

After being on the road for several weeks, we rolled into Baker City starving and half expecting to find your standard small town greasy diner. We pulled up to the Lone Pine solely based on the fact that there were numerous people dining out front. We were floored when we saw the menu. Extracto coffee?! Salted caramel french toast? Papas Bravas?! How I missed good coffee and a good breakfast! The food here was excellent. Biscuits and bread are made in house. The eggs are fresh and local. You must try the salted caramel french toast on house-made brioche. Get a half order and share it. Insanely good. Our server was super friendly and great!

Fantabulous. Best breakfast of the month. Sure, it's only the 5th, but this simple breakfast - The Basic - put the others in their places. Friendly gals taking care of customers while the cooks cranked out great food in the back. I'd come back to Baker City just for the potatoes! On our road trip back from Boise, we vowed to avoid the usual traveler stops, such as, McDonalds. Let's eat healthier, I vowed. I went on my trusty Yelp app and looked for a place in Baker City and this place came up with nearly all five star reviews. What is this place, I wondered. I must find out. We pulled up on a weekday morning two find two of the four outside tables in use on the sidewalk and none of the tables inside busy. We decided on inside. I tried to order French toast but by 10AM on this weekday in a small town it was already sold out for the day. I selected the Basic. Which as you might imagine is the basic items you would typically receive for breakfast--eggs, toast, bacon. The meal was quite tasty and the fresh squeezed orange juice was a nice touch as well. On my way out I stopped at the counter and picked up two of their salted chocolate chip cookies for a later snack. All in all a nice experience and they have an old turn table and records playing as you dine. Tammy Wynette was playing loud and clear upon our departure. I will definitely stop back in and recommend to others.

The lone pine cafe named after the lone pine just outside of baker city marking a stop on the Oregon trail. Lovely place for lunch with a great atmosphere and attentive wait staff. We had the kale salad which was amazing. We also had a veggie burger made with quinoa. Yum. They were accommodating to the kids making an off menu grilled cheese. There were even a few books and games to keep the little ones occupied while we waited for our food. My only complaint was the bathroom needs a good cleaning including the trash can. Highly recommend overall.

So so yummy!! Quick and delicious, we got "the basic" with eggs bacon yummy homemade bread but the potatoes were DOOOOPE- garlic,onion deliciousness. Very fresh tasting and quick service, definitely a must stop if passing through baker city.

Fresh, different and delightful! The fare is a broad spectrum of cuisines and all are tasty. They have some weird hours but love the outdoor dining and staff is great. So far, not a bad dish and prices are reasonable.

Lone Pine Cafe was worth the trip to downtown Baker City during our recent tri-state trip. There were several other patrons, yet we were promptly seated and served. This cafe was just what we were looking for. They had a nice selection of breakfast entrees that were 'the usuals' but with a twist. Everything was prepared perfectly and with care for the presentation. The coffee wasn't too strong and was refilled promptly. I liked the mismatched silverplate and unique coffee cups. You just know that a historic main street is worth a road trip rest stop when it has not one, but two, 24-carat cafes. They are less identical twins than fraternal, each with their own quirks and charms. Both of them offer creative but accessible menus of breakfast, lunch, and light dinner options. They are equally great, but their differing profiles may attract you at certain times to one rather than the other. The first twin, Zephyr, is across the street from Lone Pine, and it's sometimes closed in winter when the owners are away. It's classy and chic with elegant coffee drinks, a small but sophisticated wine and beer case selection, and some simple yet superb savory and sweet dishes using lots of local, organic, and delicious ingredients. Lone Pine is fun, friendly, and the more casual-cool of the twosome: a classic cafe in a renovated space serving breakfast all-day and lunch until closing time at 3 pm. The in-house breads and sandwich meats are excellent, like the German potato rye used in multiple menu items, or the smoked turkey and pastrami. The shredded lacinato kale salad, creatively mixed with chopped sunflower seeds, pickled red onion, and a dash of nutritional yeast, was also a stand-out on a winter's visit recently. The inside is pretty open with exposed brick on one side and a funky vinyl record collection with books and magazines on the other. In-between are lots of happy and hungry-looking diners, who flock here for the breakfasts, the soups of the day, the sandwiches, and the small selections of beer, coffee, soft drinks, wine, and cocktails that go along with the above-average grub. Hungry for something 'on the road," and not knowing where to look, Yelp came to the rescue. This fabulous small-town eatery came up as a a great spot. We weren't disappointed, ordering the Reuben and a burger. Fresh, tasty and served warm, all was delicious. Since it was warm outside, we enjoyed watching the town's movements and imagining how much traffic the city had had in the past to warrant such extra wide streets that are now quite over-sized. The owners worked in Portland for several years, and their professionalism and attention to detail comes through. A definite stop - a few miles off the Interstate, but worth the drive into town.

Decided to try this place out (based on the Yelp reviews obviously) on our way from Washington to Idaho. Wow!!! You can tell it's all extremely fresh and everything is homemade. They use local fresh produce, and I LOVE that they use grass-fed beef for their burgers. I had the daily special turkey pot pie with salad, and the husband had a burger and fries. Finished it off with a homemade cinnamon roll! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the service was good. I wish we had a place as good as this in our home town, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again!

You just know that a historic main street is worth a road trip rest stop when it has not one, but two, 24-carat cafes. They are less identical twins than fraternal, each with their own quirks and charms. Both of them offer creative but accessible menus of breakfast, lunch, and light dinner options. They are equally great, but their differing profiles may attract you at certain times to one rather than the other. The first twin, Zephyr, is across the street from Lone Pine, and it's sometimes closed in winter when the owners are away. It's classy and chic with elegant coffee drinks, a small but sophisticated wine and beer case selection, and some simple yet superb savory and sweet dishes using lots of local, organic, and delicious ingredients. Lone Pine is fun, friendly, and the more casual-cool of the twosome: a classic cafe in a renovated space serving breakfast all-day and lunch until closing time at 3 pm. The in-house breads and sandwich meats are excellent, like the German potato rye used in multiple menu items, or the smoked turkey and pastrami. The shredded lacinato kale salad, creatively mixed with chopped sunflower seeds, pickled red onion, and a dash of nutritional yeast, was also a stand-out on a winter's visit recently. The inside is pretty open with exposed brick on one side and a funky vinyl record collection with books and magazines on the other. In-between are lots of happy and hungry-looking diners, who flock here for the breakfasts, the soups of the day, the sandwiches, and the small selections of beer, coffee, soft drinks, wine, and cocktails that go along with the above-average grub. Just moved to the Baker area from a hip Northeastern small city, and was very glad to find the Lone Pine. Made my first trip this week when they re-opened from their winter vacation, and had a decent meal, but did find the service lackluster and my chosen menu item perplexing. I ordered the 'Bahn Mi' because I love the Vietnamese sandwich, but when it arrived it was a salad. I said, "um, I ordered the Banh mi?' and the server replied with "yeah, it's a salad. Sometimes people order it as a sandwich. It's weird because 'banh mi' actually means 'bread.'" Yeah. Weird. The salad was very good but maybe the menu should call it a 'bahn mi salad' to cut down on the disappointment for those of us craving carbs and authenticity. I'm really looking forward to trying some of the breakfast options, and from now on I'll be sure to read the fine print.

After being on the road for several weeks, we rolled into Baker City starving and half expecting to find your standard small town greasy diner. We pulled up to the Lone Pine solely based on the fact that there were numerous people dining out front. We were floored when we saw the menu. Extracto coffee?! Salted caramel french toast? Papas Bravas?! How I missed good coffee and a good breakfast! The food here was excellent. Biscuits and bread are made in house. The eggs are fresh and local. You must try the salted caramel french toast on house-made brioche. Get a half order and share it. Insanely good. Our server was super friendly and great!

The lone pine cafe named after the lone pine just outside of baker city marking a stop on the Oregon trail. Lovely place for lunch with a great atmosphere and attentive wait staff. We had the kale salad which was amazing. We also had a veggie burger made with quinoa. Yum. They were accommodating to the kids making an off menu grilled cheese. There were even a few books and games to keep the little ones occupied while we waited for our food. My only complaint was the bathroom needs a good cleaning including the trash can. Highly recommend overall.

While visiting a friend in Baker she suggested we lunch at the hip new restaurant located downtown, The Lone Pine. The place was packed when we arrived around 1ish, which I took as a good sign. After a 5 minute wait we nabbed a table from some guests that were leaving. I'm not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves (I don't recall seeing a sign), but we did, and that could explain why the waitress didn't come to our table until after I grew frustrated with the wait and grabbed our menus from the counter myself. I was disappointed to learn they were out of the only IPA they serve so I settled on a pale ale. I had a hard time deciding on my lunch order and when I asked the waitress what her favorite is her response was "I don't like to try new things"...not very helpful. Since fish tacos were not on the menu, and the sandwich selection was minimal (2 options), I ordered the fish and chips which were delicious. The Tillamook burger my friend ordered was undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen. It would've been helpful if the waitress asked my friend how she liked her burger cooked. In addition, as she was finishing her fries the waitress grabbed the plate and asked if she was finished...my friend responded "I guess" and the plate was whisked away. The restaurant is relatively new so perhaps it'll mature over time. Or perhaps my expectations of a restaurant are too high for a small town like Baker. Either way, I don't know if I'll be returning. Suggestions: larger beer selection (afterall, we are in the Pacific NW), add fish tacos, more sandwich options, and a greater vegetarian selection to the menu, and provide training for the servers.

Stopped overnight on a road trip in Baker City and found this excellent spot. The pulled pork Benedict over zucchini cakes and topped with bbq hollandaise (more like hollandaise than bbq) was the best eggs Benedict I've had. Great service, nice interior, and outdoor seating. The coffee could have been stronger, but it was still good. If you're in Baker City, do yourself and your companions a favor and skip the processed, microwaved national chains for the local, homemade goodness of the Lone Pine.

If you're on the road and headed north on I-84 from Idaho, Baker City is basically the first place with food you'll come to once you cross into Oregon. And of all the options, you should visit this little cafe. I had the Tillamook burger with the house salad as a side. It was the best burger I've ever had. Ever. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Aside from the burger: good service, nice (quirky) interior, and they have Mexican coke on the menu, too.

Stopped in Baker City last month on a Friday around 11am on our way to Seattle and decided to have an early lunch due to all of the great reviews on both yelp and trip advisor. We sat outside for about 10 minutes and the waitress showed up with water and menus. Waited 10 more minutes for the waitress to take our order. We decided to leave since we still had a long way to go and figured their service was going to be slow (as it is in most small towns). We came through town again last Saturday and decided to give this place another try since their menu looked awesome (we only had another 2hour drive, so we figured we could wait if needed). We were pleasantly surprised when the waitress showed up with water and menus as soon as we sat down and the place was busy compared to the last time we stopped by. I ordered the Rueben sandwich which had corned beef that they made themselves. The beef was not the usual pink, and looked more like a roast beef. Whatever the color, the flavor was wonderful and not overly salty. Their sauerkraut was also delicious and not overly sour. The fries were crispy and the rye bread was toasted perfectly. My husband ordered the black & blue burger on a brioche which was to die for! The burger patty was juicy and the flavors just melt in your mouth. If you are ever in this beautiful city, you must stop by the Lone Pine Café - you won't be disappointed by their varied, delicious menu!

This is a great place which evidently has new ownership as of a few months ago. We went there for our second visit recently, & had a really tasty breakfast. First, we ordered their French Toast. It is on homemade bread, very dense & rich, chopped nuts & salted caramel sauce. Not too sweet but just sweet enough. Yum! We split that and their Green Eggs. The eggs are mixed with herbs & cheese, & accompanied by slices of their rich homemade bread, toasted and potatoes. The potatoes are Yukon Gold, lightly boiled, then deep fried, then grilled. Lightly dusted with coarse salt. Good coffee & OJ too. Service was great, prompt & welcoming. We will be back next time we are in Baker City!

I had the veggie burger because it was the only vegetarian option. Great flavor, but I suspected it was undercooked, especially when my friend's burger was raw in the middle. The fries were fine. Our service was not good. It took the waitress a long time to get to our table, and after our food was delivered, we didn't see her again. She also had no idea about any of the menu items because she hadn't tried any of them. I was excited to see Mexican Coke on the menu but when I ordered it, the waitress said "Sorry, um, we only have bottled Coke." Weird. Driving from Boise going west on I84 can be a long boring ride-with few options for food along the way. But Lone Pine Cafe is a MUST STOP! Quick route right off the highway to beautiful downtown Baker City, Lone Pine has a great local vibe and great food to go along. Trying to decide to eat was the hardest decision so my boyfriend and I got different items so we can try a lot of different items. The Turkey sandwich did not disappoint with real carved turkey meat and plenty of avocado to go around.

I've lived in Baker City for 3 months now, and have tried most of the dining options in my new community. Lone Pine has the very best food in town. They take everything just a little step up - like fresh herbs in scrambled eggs. We just happened by this restaurant after spending a night in Baker City, and we were treated to one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. The ambience with vinyl playing on a turntable in a 100 year old building is great, and the food is outstanding with fresh local ingredients. Don't miss the cinnamon rolls made from scratch, or the french toast made on freshly-baked bread. This has to be the best breakfast in Baker City, or in all of Eastern Oregon for that matter.

If one was unaware of his or her presence in rural Oregon and was asked to determine it by the eatery one was in, Lone Pine Cafe would very easily lead one to believe they were in Portland or San Diego. Fresh, homemade, healthy dishes served up in an aesthetically pleasing manner make up the entire menu of Lone Pine Cafe. The atmosphere is laid back, with the decor consisting of soft, warm colors. The service was friendly and inviting, with only the most authentic tones. I saw several vegetarian options on the menu, and was so happy that I chose the veggie burger as my entree. It was a delicious homemade patty made of quinoa, black beans, carrots, and kale among some other goodies, and it is THE best veggie burger I have ever had at a restaurant. (I like my recipe that I prepare at home a little better, but I may be biased)! Rounding out the meal, I enjoyed a salted chocolate chip cookie. "YUM" is all I have to say! What a hidden treasure in the small town of Baker City. I will DEFINITELY be back the next time I find myself nearby.

I know I'm getting a reputation for writing five star reviews, so again, I'm not a foodie. However, I found this place through Yelp and I have to say that the sandwich I had here, I think they called it the Golden Beet sandwich was one of the best most creative sandwiches I've had in my life. I like sandwiches and I try to go with vegan or vegetarian when it seems good and this was definitely good in that category. I think it was vegan and the beets were so tender and sweet with everything else that was in it, it was fabulous. The prices are very low. The service was perfectly adequate, and that was the style of the place so don't expect cloth napkins and eager wait people. This place was another one of those I want to come back here as soon as I can and will make a special stop to do so places for me.

On our road trip back from Boise, we vowed to avoid the usual traveler stops, such as, McDonalds. Let's eat healthier, I vowed. I went on my trusty Yelp app and looked for a place in Baker City and this place came up with nearly all five star reviews. What is this place, I wondered. I must find out. We pulled up on a weekday morning two find two of the four outside tables in use on the sidewalk and none of the tables inside busy. We decided on inside. I tried to order French toast but by 10AM on this weekday in a small town it was already sold out for the day. I selected the Basic. Which as you might imagine is the basic items you would typically receive for breakfast--eggs, toast, bacon. The meal was quite tasty and the fresh squeezed orange juice was a nice touch as well. On my way out I stopped at the counter and picked up two of their salted chocolate chip cookies for a later snack. All in all a nice experience and they have an old turn table and records playing as you dine. Tammy Wynette was playing loud and clear upon our departure. I will definitely stop back in and recommend to others.

Just rolled into Baker City and stopped at The Lone Pine Cafe. The soup of the day was obviously home made and really, really great! It was such a large portion that we shared it. Soup came with thick slices of home made, toasted bread that had just a hint of cinnamon. Iced tea was not watery and the service friendly and competent. Decided to try this place out (based on the Yelp reviews obviously) on our way from Washington to Idaho. Wow!!! You can tell it's all extremely fresh and everything is homemade. They use local fresh produce, and I LOVE that they use grass-fed beef for their burgers. I had the daily special turkey pot pie with salad, and the husband had a burger and fries. Finished it off with a homemade cinnamon roll! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the service was good. I wish we had a place as good as this in our home town, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again!

Hungry for something 'on the road," and not knowing where to look, Yelp came to the rescue. This fabulous small-town eatery came up as a a great spot. We weren't disappointed, ordering the Reuben and a burger. Fresh, tasty and served warm, all was delicious. Since it was warm outside, we enjoyed watching the town's movements and imagining how much traffic the city had had in the past to warrant such extra wide streets that are now quite over-sized. The owners worked in Portland for several years, and their professionalism and attention to detail comes through. A definite stop - a few miles off the Interstate, but worth the drive into town.

I've stopped here before to enjoy a good meal. This morning I decided to again stop for breakfast. One of the specials, Poblano Hash sounded interesting. It was a big disappointment after sipping their great coffee to figure out that the Hash had chilies, some cheese, and potatoes with no meat. The waitress expressed her agreement that the dish should be listed as vegetarian as most folks expect meat in hash. Instead, all I was provided with was an expensive, high carbohydrate meal.

This is rare for me to give a five star but this place is great! They play Lps and will let you pick an album if you ask. I ate here while traveling through with three friends on my way to Idaho. The food was a great value and very tasty. Two of us had the blu cheese burger one with a salad and one with fries. It was very delicious. One had the breakfast and it was very tasty. And another person had the regular cheese burger. Everyone was well pleased.

The ingredients are fresh and delicious, down to the brilliant colored yolks of the farm raised eggs. If you are even close to this restaurant be sure to stop in! Stopped in Baker City last month on a Friday around 11am on our way to Seattle and decided to have an early lunch due to all of the great reviews on both yelp and trip advisor. We sat outside for about 10 minutes and the waitress showed up with water and menus. Waited 10 more minutes for the waitress to take our order. We decided to leave since we still had a long way to go and figured their service was going to be slow (as it is in most small towns). We came through town again last Saturday and decided to give this place another try since their menu looked awesome (we only had another 2hour drive, so we figured we could wait if needed). We were pleasantly surprised when the waitress showed up with water and menus as soon as we sat down and the place was busy compared to the last time we stopped by. I ordered the Rueben sandwich which had corned beef that they made themselves. The beef was not the usual pink, and looked more like a roast beef. Whatever the color, the flavor was wonderful and not overly salty. Their sauerkraut was also delicious and not overly sour. The fries were crispy and the rye bread was toasted perfectly. My husband ordered the black & blue burger on a brioche which was to die for! The burger patty was juicy and the flavors just melt in your mouth. If you are ever in this beautiful city, you must stop by the Lone Pine Café - you won't be disappointed by their varied, delicious menu!

This is a great place which evidently has new ownership as of a few months ago. We went there for our second visit recently, & had a really tasty breakfast. First, we ordered their French Toast. It is on homemade bread, very dense & rich, chopped nuts & salted caramel sauce. Not too sweet but just sweet enough. Yum! We split that and their Green Eggs. The eggs are mixed with herbs & cheese, & accompanied by slices of their rich homemade bread, toasted and potatoes. The potatoes are Yukon Gold, lightly boiled, then deep fried, then grilled. Lightly dusted with coarse salt. Good coffee & OJ too. Service was great, prompt & welcoming. We will be back next time we are in Baker City!

The Lone Pine Cafe must surely serve Baker's most delicious food. Over a 4-day stay in Baker, we tried the following, all were excellent: The Simple (homemade german potato rye bread w/ avocado schmear and medium-cooked egg); Banh-Mi Salad, BELT breakfast sandwich. Great coffee and juices, best breakfast potatoes ever. Friendly service. Baker needs more people who will enjoy this lovely place. A historic valley, great place to visit, snowshoe and ski.

I had the veggie burger because it was the only vegetarian option. Great flavor, but I suspected it was undercooked, especially when my friend's burger was raw in the middle. The fries were fine. Our service was not good. It took the waitress a long time to get to our table, and after our food was delivered, we didn't see her again. She also had no idea about any of the menu items because she hadn't tried any of them. I was excited to see Mexican Coke on the menu but when I ordered it, the waitress said "Sorry, um, we only have bottled Coke." Weird. I visit Baker a few times a year but won't go out of my way to eat here again.

Driving from Boise going west on I84 can be a long boring ride-with few options for food along the way. But Lone Pine Cafe is a MUST STOP! Quick route right off the highway to beautiful downtown Baker City, Lone Pine has a great local vibe and great food to go along. Trying to decide to eat was the hardest decision so my boyfriend and I got different items so we can try a lot of different items. The Turkey sandwich did not disappoint with real carved turkey meat and plenty of avocado to go around.

After pulling off the road and my husband saying let's stop at subway I suggested we just drove around a bit and see what other options presented themselves to us. We drove by and saw a outside patio full of people ! That's always a good sign for me so we turned around having no idea what kind of place it was as we couldn't see a sign. Walking up I looked at people's plates and it looked fresh and good! To our surprise it was organic salads and naturally grass fed angus beef! I've lived in Baker City for 3 months now, and have tried most of the dining options in my new community. Lone Pine has the very best food in town. They take everything just a little step up - like fresh herbs in scrambled eggs. And they make something as simple as a side salad absolutely fabulous, with micro greens, vinaigrette, nutritional yeast and pumpkin seeds. They have outdoor seating and fast, friendly service. I absolutely LOVE this place.

The food is exceptional and the ambience is charming. We stumbled upon this place and it was such a delightful surprise. The brunch was amazing. We had patatas bravas (perfect lemony aoli) and the BELT (breakfast BLT) with the most perfectly toasted and squishy homemade bread, smoky bacon, fresh tomatoes, and crispy salty potatoes on the side. Such a gem of a place! I came for breakfast while in town for business and the food was fantastic - I had The Simple along with coffee while my colleague got the cinnamon roll (freshly baked!) and coffee. I only wish I could eat here every week instead of just when I happen to be in Baker City.

We were driving to Portland and came across this fine place on a rain filled day on a stop for gas and food in Baker City. Nicoise Salad, Soup of the day, Hot tea, and a sandwich for us. Fantabulous. Best breakfast of the month. Sure, it's only the 5th, but this simple breakfast - The Basic - put the others in their places. Friendly gals taking care of customers while the cooks cranked out great food in the back. I'd come back to Baker City just for the potatoes! On our road trip back from Boise, we vowed to avoid the usual traveler stops, such as, McDonalds. Let's eat healthier, I vowed. I went on my trusty Yelp app and looked for a place in Baker City and this place came up with nearly all five star reviews. What is this place, I wondered. I must find out. We pulled up on a weekday morning two find two of the four outside tables in use on the sidewalk and none of the tables inside busy. We decided on inside. I tried to order French toast but by 10AM on this weekday in a small town it was already sold out for the day. I selected the Basic. Which as you might imagine is the basic items you would typically receive for breakfast--eggs, toast, bacon. The meal was quite tasty and the fresh squeezed orange juice was a nice touch as well. On my way out I stopped at the counter and picked up two of their salted chocolate chip cookies for a later snack. All in all a nice experience and they have an old turn table and records playing as you dine. Tammy Wynette was playing loud and clear upon our departure. I will definitely stop back in and recommend to others.

You just know that a historic main street is worth a road trip rest stop when it has not one, but two, 24-carat cafes. They are less identical twins than fraternal, each with their own quirks and charms. Both of them offer creative but accessible menus of breakfast, lunch, and light dinner options. They are equally great, but their differing profiles may attract you at certain times to one rather than the other. The first twin, Zephyr, is across the street from Lone Pine, and it's sometimes closed in winter when the owners are away. It's classy and chic with elegant coffee drinks, a small but sophisticated wine and beer case selection, and some simple yet superb savory and sweet dishes using lots of local, organic, and delicious ingredients. Lone Pine is fun, friendly, and the more casual-cool of the twosome: a classic cafe in a renovated space serving breakfast all-day and lunch until closing time at 3 pm. The in-house breads and sandwich meats are excellent, like the German potato rye used in multiple menu items, or the smoked turkey and pastrami. The shredded lacinato kale salad, creatively mixed with chopped sunflower seeds, pickled red onion, and a dash of nutritional yeast, was also a stand-out on a winter's visit recently. The inside is pretty open with exposed brick on one side and a funky vinyl record collection with books and magazines on the other. In-between are lots of happy and hungry-looking diners, who flock here for the breakfasts, the soups of the day, the sandwiches, and the small selections of beer, coffee, soft drinks, wine, and cocktails that go along with the above-average grub. The menu is eclectic and seasonal, with Asian offerings alongside Southwestern/TexMex, with big cinnamon rolls, omelets and egg scrambles, hearty sandwiches and burgers (using local beef from nearby ranches) and some darn good chocolate chip and nut cookies to go along with a good Portland-roasted coffee (Extracto). I'd not want to have to choose between these two twins, since I enjoy them both and have had great meals with prompt service on my road trip visits. If I'm feeling the need for a little class, I'll visit Zephyr for a salad and wine and some quiet reading over an espresso. If I want a spicy Southwestern soup, some good thick bread, and a coffee and cookie, I'd go to Lone Pine for the good vibes, the lively crowds, and the groovy music. Hard to go wrong when either choice is a good one. Baker City is far more interesting than one might think, thanks to places like these.

In town for the motorcycle rally, we had drinks at several places, they were awful !!! Walking by we noticed many people sitting outside having bloody Mary's . They looked so good we had to give them a try. This by far was the best Bloody Mary I've had!!!!

If one was unaware of his or her presence in rural Oregon and was asked to determine it by the eatery one was in, Lone Pine Cafe would very easily lead one to believe they were in Portland or San Diego. Fresh, homemade, healthy dishes served up in an aesthetically pleasing manner make up the entire menu of Lone Pine Cafe. The atmosphere is laid back, with the decor consisting of soft, warm colors. The service was friendly and inviting, with only the most authentic tones. I saw several vegetarian options on the menu, and was so happy that I chose the veggie burger as my entree. It was a delicious homemade patty made of quinoa, black beans, carrots, and kale among some other goodies, and it is THE best veggie burger I have ever had at a restaurant. (I like my recipe that I prepare at home a little better, but I may be biased)! Rounding out the meal, I enjoyed a salted chocolate chip cookie. "YUM" is all I have to say! What a hidden treasure in the small town of Baker City. I will DEFINITELY be back the next time I find myself nearby.

I know I'm getting a reputation for writing five star reviews, so again, I'm not a foodie. However, I found this place through Yelp and I have to say that the sandwich I had here, I think they called it the Golden Beet sandwich was one of the best most creative sandwiches I've had in my life. I like sandwiches and I try to go with vegan or vegetarian when it seems good and this was definitely good in that category. I think it was vegan and the beets were so tender and sweet with everything else that was in it, it was fabulous. The prices are very low. The service was perfectly adequate, and that was the style of the place so don't expect cloth napkins and eager wait people. This place was another one of those I want to come back here as soon as I can and will make a special stop to do so places for me.

Just moved to the Baker area from a hip Northeastern small city, and was very glad to find the Lone Pine. Made my first trip this week when they re-opened from their winter vacation, and had a decent meal, but did find the service lackluster and my chosen menu item perplexing. I ordered the 'Bahn Mi' because I love the Vietnamese sandwich, but when it arrived it was a salad. I said, "um, I ordered the Banh mi?' and the server replied with "yeah, it's a salad. Sometimes people order it as a sandwich. It's weird because 'banh mi' actually means 'bread.'" Yeah. Weird. The salad was very good but maybe the menu should call it a 'bahn mi salad' to cut down on the disappointment for those of us craving carbs and authenticity. I'm really looking forward to trying some of the breakfast options, and from now on I'll be sure to read the fine print.

After being on the road for several weeks, we rolled into Baker City starving and half expecting to find your standard small town greasy diner. We pulled up to the Lone Pine solely based on the fact that there were numerous people dining out front. We were floored when we saw the menu. Extracto coffee?! Salted caramel french toast? Papas Bravas?! How I missed good coffee and a good breakfast! The food here was excellent. Biscuits and bread are made in house. The eggs are fresh and local. You must try the salted caramel french toast on house-made brioche. Get a half order and share it. Insanely good. Our server was super friendly and great!

While visiting a friend in Baker she suggested we lunch at the hip new restaurant located downtown, The Lone Pine. The place was packed when we arrived around 1ish, which I took as a good sign. After a 5 minute wait we nabbed a table from some guests that were leaving. I'm not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves (I don't recall seeing a sign), but we did, and that could explain why the waitress didn't come to our table until after I grew frustrated with the wait and grabbed our menus from the counter myself. I was disappointed to learn they were out of the only IPA they serve so I settled on a pale ale. I had a hard time deciding on my lunch order and when I asked the waitress what her favorite is her response was "I don't like to try new things"...not very helpful. Since fish tacos were not on the menu, and the sandwich selection was minimal (2 options), I ordered the fish and chips which were delicious. The Tillamook burger my friend ordered was undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen. It would've been helpful if the waitress asked my friend how she liked her burger cooked. In addition, as she was finishing her fries the waitress grabbed the plate and asked if she was finished...my friend responded "I guess" and the plate was whisked away. The restaurant is relatively new so perhaps it'll mature over time. Or perhaps my expectations of a restaurant are too high for a small town like Baker. Either way, I don't know if I'll be returning. Suggestions: larger beer selection (afterall, we are in the Pacific NW), add fish tacos, more sandwich options, and a greater vegetarian selection to the menu, and provide training for the servers.

Stopped overnight on a road trip in Baker City and found this excellent spot. The pulled pork Benedict over zucchini cakes and topped with bbq hollandaise (more like hollandaise than bbq) was the best eggs Benedict I've had. Great service, nice interior, and outdoor seating. The coffee could have been stronger, but it was still good. If you're in Baker City, do yourself and your companions a favor and skip the processed, microwaved national chains for the local, homemade goodness of the Lone Pine.

If you're on the road and headed north on I-84 from Idaho, Baker City is basically the first place with food you'll come to once you cross into Oregon. And of all the options, you should visit this little cafe. I had the Tillamook burger with the house salad as a side. It was the best burger I've ever had. Ever. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Aside from the burger: good service, nice (quirky) interior, and they have Mexican coke on the menu, too.

Absolutely incredible food, drinks, and service. Their dishes were delicious and well priced. Their bloody mary and coffee were likewise impressive. I would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in a great brunch/lunch spot.

driving through and yelp led us here unequivocally. not disappointed in the least. the food was fresh, the coffee hot, and the staff friendly. loved the outdoor seating beneath a shade tree by the street, sipping bloody marys as the record player spun The Doors. a great local spot.

The lone pine cafe named after the lone pine just outside of baker city marking a stop on the Oregon trail. Lovely place for lunch with a great atmosphere and attentive wait staff. We had the kale salad which was amazing. We also had a veggie burger made with quinoa. Yum. They were accommodating to the kids making an off menu grilled cheese. There were even a few books and games to keep the little ones occupied while we waited for our food. My only complaint was the bathroom needs a good cleaning including the trash can. Highly recommend overall.

On our way to Salt Lake City and decided to stop to eat lunch, it's great for lunch and breakfast. Very cute town in a cool vibe.very nice people. And I like that they were playing vinyl.The turkey sandwich was amazing!!

Fantastic! Our waitress was friendly and efficient. My husband ordered the orange juice and we heard her juicing the oranges! It was the best OJ ever! We ordered the basic breakfast-2 eggs, potato sausage-excellent or bacon-excellent, toast and potatoes. Everything was delicious and yes we would return.

Decided to try this place out (based on the Yelp reviews obviously) on our way from Washington to Idaho. Wow!!! You can tell it's all extremely fresh and everything is homemade. They use local fresh produce, and I LOVE that they use grass-fed beef for their burgers. I had the daily special turkey pot pie with salad, and the husband had a burger and fries. Finished it off with a homemade cinnamon roll! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the service was good. I wish we had a place as good as this in our home town, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again!

Just rolled into Baker City and stopped at The Lone Pine Cafe. The soup of the day was obviously home made and really, really great! It was such a large portion that we shared it. Soup came with thick slices of home made, toasted bread that had just a hint of cinnamon. Iced tea was not watery and the service friendly and competent. Over all a pleasant break in the day to eat outside too. Go Lone Pine!

Just stopped here on a trip between Boise and points eastward and WOW. Great vibe, super staff, excellent menu. World-class coffee for the drivers. Amazing Housemade Veggie Burger, but don't panic, America, there are lots of meat-centric options on the menu. Highly recommended. Will be stopping by as much as possible...

If anybody passes Lone Pine up, they've really missed something. Try avocado and egg on toast or French toast for breakfast. Delicioso!

We just happened by this restaurant after spending a night in Baker City, and we were treated to one of the best breakfasts I've had in a while. The ambience with vinyl playing on a turntable in a 100 year old building is great, and the food is outstanding with fresh local ingredients. Don't miss the cinnamon rolls made from scratch, or the french toast made on freshly-baked bread. This has to be the best breakfast in Baker City, or in all of Eastern Oregon for that matter.

I have had two meals here now and both times it was excellent. The home made Reuben is delicious and so are the Huevos Rancheros. The bread is baked every day, and yes they have cinnamon rolls. This is a must if traveling through Baker.
